Cricket

Untitled design-2.png

I have always felt that my designs are not so much " my own" as an expression of the Universe that is manifested through my hands.

In certain cases, this is abundantly clear.

Cricket was one of those cases. The stretch green/gold sequin fabric came to me via a colleague, and when I started to create with it, I had /// no idea/// what would happen. The layers of gauze, given life with copper wire were gifted to me from Dawson’s studio (who created all the leatherwork) and salvaged from bins at my favorite clothing stores. Really, the only "new materials" purchased for this outfit were the massive gold flowers on her headpiece.

Watching this outfit being birthed through my hands was one of the most enjoyable afternoons spent in my new sewing studio at that time, and I am thrilled to share this little time lapse videos of it's initial creation with you.

Still, after all of that there were of course re-edits... I added the lime satin collar and sleeves, made the shoes, etc. But that moment of cosmic birth was truly magical.
